Bespoke miniature figure commissions and sculptures for collectors

I have won several awards at miniature figure shows and provide both a figure painting and sculpting service. In addition to working on projects for private collectors, I have worked on several small commissions for former members of The Parachute Regiment, The Rifles and several former US units including many others.

In some instances a collector will simply have seen a commercial figure that they would like painting and displaying. In other instances I may have to sculpt the entire figure from scratch, or in some cases provide a conversion. While I provide figures to fit within a range of budgets, if sculpting a full figure from scratch the cost works out considerably more due to the time involved. Other projects may simply require a small conversion from a commercial casting.  In terms of sizes the most popular sizes are 54mm, 75mm and 120mm.

Commercial hand painted figures are available from £200.00, and complete figure sculptures start at £350.00 depending on the size and complexity of the project. Upon beginning the project a 50% deposit is payable, with the final balance due on completion. (Normally 4 weeks turnaround)

I have previously worked for clients in both Australia and the USA, so location is not an issue. Completed sculptures and figures are extensively protected before shipping to their final destination. On completion of the painted sculptures and figures, I will offer guidance on the protection of the sculpture including how best to display and guidelines for optimal viewing.

Information for Conversions & Sculptures

I will start by gathering relevant information on the subject before making any necessary preliminary sketches. If a figure is to be based on an individual any useful photos are information will be required to work from.

If a figure conversion is required, eg a commercial figure is to have a head re sculpt to capture a likeness, or a change of weapon is required, these alterations will take place before beginning the painting process. If a complete sculpture is required, fact finding will begin to ascertain the required pose, details of terrain and any additional features.  I will then start with a simple wire armature to determine correct placement of limbs and muscles. Quick drying two part epoxy putty is then mixed together and slowly added to the armature to build up the subject.

On completion of the sculpture the subject will be permanently fixed to a display base before being hand painted in acrylics. A suitable plaque displaying information on the subject is then attached to the display base to complete the project.
