Bespoke digital sculpting services and figure painting commissions

In addition to working on numerous sculpting projects for private collectors, Mark has won several awards at miniature figure shows and provides both a figure painting and digital sculpting service. Mark has worked on several small commissions for former members of The Parachute Regiment, The Rifles and several former US units including many private commissions.

Depending on individual requirements, a collector will simply have seen a commercial figure that they would like painting and displaying. In other instances, Mark will often have to digitally sculpt the entire figure from scratch. Concept Miniatures provide services to fit within a range of budgets, if sculpting a full figure from scratch the cost works out considerably more due to the sheer amount of time involved, before the 3d printing process.

Commercial hand painted figures are available from £300.00, and digital figure sculpts start at £425.00 depending on the size and complexity of the project. Upon beginning the project a 50% deposit is payable, with the final balance due on completion. (Normally 4 weeks turnaround)

We have previously worked for clients in both Australia and the USA, so location is not an issue. Completed sculptures and figures are extensively protected before shipping to their final destination. On completion of the painted sculptures and figures, we will offer guidance on the protection of the sculpture including how best to display and guidelines for optimal viewing.

Concept Miniatures –  Scratch built Figures and Digital Sculptures

If commissioning us to undertake a project, we will start by gathering relevant information on the subject before making any necessary preliminary sketches. If a figure is to be based on a particular individual ie historical, any useful photos and information will be required to work from.

concept miniaturesIf a complete figure sculpture is required, fact finding will begin to ascertain the required pose, details of included terrain and any additional features.  Mark will then begin by sculpting the anatomy to determine the correct placement of limbs and muscles, before moving on to more advanced techniques in order to address clothing and portraiture. On completion of the project, a small of test prints will be carried out to establish how the sculpt looks in reality. The figure will be then printed in high quality resin and cleaned appropriately before preparing for shipping or painting.

If commissioning a painting project, the completed project will be permanently fixed to a quality display base. A suitable plaque displaying information on the subject is then attached to the display base to complete the project.
