Frequently Asked Questions

I am interested in purchasing an original painting, but am wary about ordering online before seeing ‘in the flesh’. How can I be assured of the quality of artwork?

Being a member of the Fine Art Trade Guild, I am bound by the terms of the Guild to produce high quality artwork in accordance with the artists benchmark guidelines. You will my find paintings are produced using only the highest quality ranges of oil and acrylic paints, reflecting in the strong, vibrant consistency of the finished work. For new collectors interested in purchasing an expensive original, I am happy to send a small sample painting (12 x 16) inches which will demonstrate the quality you will expect to see in my work. Naturally I ask this sample piece to be returned by post, which being a small size is inexpensive. I offer a standard 14 day money back guarantee on all artwork. All original paintings are delivered with a signed certificate of authenticity.

How are original artworks delivered?

All artwork is packaged in bubble wrap, cardboard and protective paper prior to shipping and delivery. I do not use glass in any framing works (as original oil and acrylics) so there is no risk of breakage.

How many days will it take to receive an original painting?

I endeavour to post within 2 working days, so on average you will receive a new order with 3 to 5 working days from the date of placing the order.

If I order an original painting will it be completely dry?

Yes. Oil paintings take considerably longer to dry than all other mediums, but any painting offered for sale will be completely dry and protected with Artists Matt Varnish.

If I order an original painting will it be ready to hang?

All framed paintings are stringed and ready to hang on the wall. If you order a painting on a standard canvas (not boxed canvas) then it will not come with hanging fixings attached in case you wish to frame. If you would like to hang a canvas painting without a frame I will be happy to attach the fixings at no extra cost prior to delivery.

My painting has arrived and has been damaged in the post, am I able to return it?

Yes. Please contact me via email at info@markhaywoodart.com with regards to the damaged item.

What kind of painting materials do you use?

All paintings are produced on artist quality canvas using professional artist quality acrylic and oil paints.

What subjects do you paint?

I paint figurative, seascape and landscape subjects in oil and acrylic.

How long have you been an artist?

I have painted obsessively since childhood, being a keen water colourist in my younger days before moving on to oil and acrylic; my preferred mediums. Before selling my work in a professional capacity (beginning with commissions)  I supported myself via a number of  jobs in various sectors.

How long will it take to commission a painting?

It depends upon the size and complexity of the subject. Generally the larger the painting the longer it will take. A figurative painting is likely to take approximately twice the time involved in creating a landscape painting.
